Special Workshops

Three special presentations exploring Black contributions to American fiddle traditions will be highlighted on Saturday and Sunday, the 27th and 28th.

The first presentation, by African-American scholar and musician Ben Hunter, is available on-demand as a video, with watch parties scheduled for Friday at 8pm, and Saturday at 11:15am. Ben's presentation is titled "Black Music. Full Stop."

Ben's musical partner Joe Seamons will host a Zoom session to discuss Ben's video and other issues. It's at 2:00p on Saturday, June 27 and titled "Exploitation & Disrespect in American Dance Music: A Community Discussion."

Finally, on Sunday, June 28th, Jerron Paxton will  offer a "Performance with commentary" at 10:00am. If you have specific questions you'd like Jerron to address regarding his experience as a Black man playing old time and ragtime music, please send them ahead of time to:
